CLD #306

For the Refua Shlema of Moshe ben Mazal.
Today we heard a baby cry. It does not matter what the reason is, a baby’s reason is usually ridiculous or even stupid (in the eyes of adults). It seems like a baby crying for some food, for a cleaner bottom, for some more attention, or even a tiny scrape on the elbow that results in tiny drops of blood is so simple to fix, and the crying seems superfluous.
However, how much more so should we cry for Hashem’s protection, for Hashem’s love and Rachamim (mercy) to completely spread throughout the world into the heart of every Jew in the entire world! How much do we need to cry for Tefillah for the constant guidance that Hashem should help us with!
Why? Because if anyone really looks at the world then he/she really sees how small the human being is. How tiny and fragile we are. But at the same time we have the capacity to hold knowledge that 5,000 elephants cannot hold!
We should pray day and night just to be able to WANT to cry to Hashem. To open up our closed and ceiled hearts that have been swayed towards the materialism that the spiritual power of tumah (impurity) has used to conquer the majority of this world. To reach deep into our extinguished hearts, which has been disgustingly spoiled with the dirt of confusion of the careless left that sadly cares for animals and the environment more than a human being.
B’H we will all have the zchut to open up our minds to the reality that Hashem is in control of this world and that we need to WANT to pray to want to get closer to Hashem non stop.

KOL HASHONEH HALACHOT KOL YOM MUVTACH LO SHE'HOO BEN HAOLAM HABA

L’yilui Nishmat Avraham ben Ester & Israel ben Rivka.
From Yalkut Yosef:

1. If someone read Kriyat Shma and did not specify in the pronunciation of each word by itself, he/she still fulfilled the obligation of saying Kriyat Shma. But in any event, LeChatchila (the best way) one should be very cautious with this pronunciation.

2. One needs to make the pronunciation of the words of Kriyat Shma when reading it loud enough to be able to be hear to his/her own ears. Even the Pasuk “VeChara Af Hashem…” that needs to be whispered should still be loud enough to be heard to one’s own ears. Even if one did not hear his/her own words of Shma, he/she still fulfilled the obligation of Mitzvat Kriyat Shma. However, if one did not say the words from his/her lips, rather just thought about the words, he/she did not fulfill the Mitzva of Kriyat Shma.

CLD #305

Vosizneias.com
For the Refua Shlema of Moshe ben Mazal.
Today was the Levaya (Hashem Yerachem Lo Alenu) of one of the biggest Rabbanim in Eretz HaKodesh, and in all the world: Rav Michal Yehuda Lefkowitz ZT’L (Rosh Yeshiva of Ponovitch). It does not matter if you are Spharadi, Ashkenazi, Temani, Marrocai, Blue, Black, Beige or Brown.
A Gdol HaDor has passed away. One would think that an old person is simply just an old person and a couple people need to show up to the funeral out of respect. But not in the Jewish World, the Real World> the Olam Haze! If a star passes away at an old age, barely anyone shows up to the funeral. But how does it make sense that there are tens of thousands of people (according to yiddish website: 100,000 people) come to escort a Neshama to Olam Haba?!?!?!
Because of our natural ability that Hashem gave us to sense the Emet (the Truth=the Torah). Al Pi HaRav Darmoni shlit’a: Hashem gave us this sense of Emet, to recognize the difference between Emet and Sheker.
Just from the simple headline reading of a Big Rabbi who passes away one can understand what the Koach of the Torah is! This Jew who passed away today was 97, with a full life of the Torah HaKdosha, the Emet, the Truth!
When a star passes, there is no longer any entertainment to benefit the audience, no free shirts/sweaters are being given out, no food is properly distributed throughout the fans, no drinks, etc. So at a funeral the audience does not take anything with them anymore, so they are not there to respect the dead star because he/she does not have anything to give to his audience anymore. LEHAVDEEL (to be different) how much more so is the Huge Rav Michal Yehudah ZT’L?!?!
All the Yehudim went there today for his Torah HaKdosha, his Chiddushim that he brought into this world, the words of Chizuk that woke up the hearts of Yehudim across the world, and even more so what he left behind>>>the teachings and way of life to help continue the world of Yeshivas, Kollelim, Midreshiyot, etc.!

B’H We had a zchut of being at such a huge Levaya. Just to summarize the number of people: From a roof overlooking the street where the body was carried it looked as if there was a field of blackberries, with the street packed with Black and White Dress Code and a few trees here and there.
At the same time theCLD wishes Am Yisrael to enjoy Rak B’Smachot.

KOL HASHONEH HALACHOT KOL YOM MUVTACH LO SHE'HOO BEN HAOLAM HABA

L’yilui Nishmat Avraham ben Ester & Israel ben Rivka.
From Yalkut Yosef:

1. One who tastes food to see if it has enough salt and the like, even if he/she swallows the food [up to 27 grams], one does not need to say a Bracha for that food. Because the intention is just to taste, and if even to swallow, the Bracha is not needed. However, if one takes food to eat it, he/she needs to say a Bracha.

2. One who tastes the food and has the intention also to receive pleasure from tasting it (like ice cream and/or candy) is in a bit of a problem in regards the need to say a Bracha or not. So, one should have the intention simply to eat the food and NOT taste it, so then he/she can say a Bracha that is how all the Poskim (Rabbis) teach.

CLD #304

For the Refua Shlema of Moshe ben Mazal.
B’H Bli Ayin Hara I love being in HaIr HaAtika (the old city), Yerushalayim HaKdosha! The best part of it is literally realizing at all times that you are in Hashem’s backyard, because is home (even though its under animal rule>Palestinians BH because obviously Hashem wants it that way) is right here!!!
So at the Kotel today, I am looking for one of the Siddurim I love to pray with, Kavanat HaLev, because just like in the Siddurim Yedid Hashem and Kol Yaakov it has translation of the words of Tefillah. As I am searching for the Siddur, I hear a little kid.
In the Kotel Tunnel itself a section of its floor is see-through, which has a 20 foot tunnel deep with a glass floor that’s very thick to hold a lot of weight. So this little kid is terrified of walking onto this floor and his father is urging him to walk on because it is fine! He is completely safe!
I was in shock at the Mussar I just learned! You don’t see it?!?!?
Hashem screams to us everyday: WAKE UP! THE TORAH IS THE TRUTH! Just take the First Step and I WILL DO THE REST! You ARE SAFE IF YOU JUST GIVE YOURSELF UP FOR THE TORAH HAKDOSHA!
But nooooo, we think we are smarter and know what is good for us. What is the little boy doing. He is following his instinct. He simply believes that he knows what is good for him. Staying away from the glass floor is the safest alternative.
But Hashem tells us take that first step. It might seem like it is a complete entrance to a deep pit of endless dreadfulness. But in reality it is just another cool part of the Kotel.
Obviously if Hashem gave us the Torah, then its guidelines is simply what is BEST for us, whether you think though or not, whether you want to believe it or not, whether you like it or not.

L’yilui Nishmat Avraham ben Ester & Israel ben Rivka.
From Yalkut Yosef:

1. One cannot pray Tefillat Shmoneh Esreh (Prayer) by sitting on a chair, a bench, or in a high place, because one cannot pray before Hashem from a high place. If someone did pray in a high place, he/she still fulfilled the obligation of Tefillat Shomeh Esreh but in the least best way (BeDi’eved).

2. The sick or Old in age are allowed to pray Tefillat Shomeh Esreh while sitting on a chair or on a bed. A healthy person who did pray on a chair or a bed does not have to repeat Shomeh Esreh because he/she fulfilled the obligation of Tefillah.

CLD #303

For the Refua Shlema of Moshe ben Mazal.
Lachzor B’Tshuva (accepting the Mitzvot of the Torah, if one who hasn’t done so yet) is like throwing a ball up in the air.
How come? When one begins accepting the Mitzvot of Hashem, he/she in fact rises up to a level that is unreachable for Yehudim who have been religious their entire lives. When someone hits the turbo lane in Nintendo games, especially after racing in a slow speed, they increase to a level of enormous speed. However, if one is already at a high speed, the turbo will not help. The same goes for the one who was at a very low level of Kdusha and Mitzvot, and decided to accept the idea that Hashem is in control of even the tiniest details, and tiniest ways of life. Once they reach this level (which is in fact given to every person at least once in their life, whether they choose to take the opportunity to accept it or not is their choice) they reach their highest point, and then slowly drop lower and higher and lower and higher etc. Just like a bouncing tennis ball.
However, after reaching a level where the ball is barely bouncing, it is time to try to reach the level where the ball was at its highest.

B’H we will all have the zchut to WANT to reach a level where we accept that Hashem and His Torah is part of our life AT ALL TIMES.

KOL HASHONEH HALACHOT KOL YOM MUVTACH LO SHE'HOO BEN HAOLAM HABA

L’yilui Nishmat Avraham ben Ester & Israel ben Rivka. For the Refua Shlema of Moshe ben Mazal.
From Yalkut Yosef:

1. It is written in the Torah “Kabed Et Avicha Ve’et Imecha,” which is a Mitzvat Aseh (Positive Commandment) from the Torah to respect one’s parents. One should be very careful in regards to the respect and fear of his/her parent’s. Their value is like the value of Hashem. There are 3 partners to a person: Hashem, his/her father and mother. At the time when man respects his father and mother, Hashem says it is as if I Myself live between them and it is as if the person respect Hashem Himself. Therefore it is a BIG Chiyuv (obligation) on everyone to set time to learn Hilchot Kibud Av Ve’Em and become an expert in them (due to the strictness of the Mitzvah).

2. There is no limit to the Mitzvah of Kibud Av Ve’Em, which is a precious Mitzvah. Praised is the one who tries to respect his/her parents as much as he/she can. The one who does this earns a Long Life, Wealth, and general Hatzlacha. Also one will have the zchut of his children respecting him/her even at an old age. And the one who fulfills this in Eretz Yisrael has a longer reward than one outside of Eretz Yisrael.

CLD #302

This CLD is for the Refua Shlema of Moshe ben Mazal.
Shavua Tov.
In Orchot Tzadikim, Perek Shlishi (Ch. 3) the Middah of Busha, or embarrassment is dicussed. This middah is very difficult to obtain in our society because everyone has this inner strive to reach a sense of accomplishment by being number one, or just arrogant in general.

The career world teaches us to be the ones on top, to step on people to succeed, to love yourself and only yourself, and most importantly: do not let anyone make you seem like a failure. The Torah HaKdosha tells us that it is okay to say “I don’t know” or even “I am wrong. Where do we learn this? From Korach and Adato, Korach and his group of followers. If Korach would just give in to his Yetzer Hara, which told him to begin a Machloket and go against Moshe Rabbenu’s leadership, he wouyld have succeeded in his political level and certainly the draga ruchanit he already reached (because Korach was not some simple Jew, he was actually from the family of Aharon HaKohen)!
We need to understand sometimes to give in to the Anger and simply be silent. Give in to the inner self that tells you “You need to be the one who speaks now because you are the smartest here,” and stay silent, and let other people be on top. Sometimes the embarrassment, the middah of Busha, helps in order to show others how to act. Why? Because in the end of the day we all need to learn from David HaMelech’s Sefer Tehillim, which says “Sheviti Hashem LeNegdi Tamid,” May I return to Hashem in front of me always. We need to literally practice, just like we do with Limud Torah, academics, sports, etc. to be embarrassed. In the end of the day the only way to succeed spiritually and reach a draga of kdusha that we need to reach is by being around those who we are embarrassed of, because we are always in front of Hashem. We practice this by being around the Chachmei Israel of our generation, because they are the ones who exemplify what Torah and Hashem is/are.
Do we do anything to tell ourselves we need to be embarrassed by Hashem’s presence, CONSTANTLY?
Time for us to wake up. Shavua Tov!

KOL HASHONEH HALACHOT KOL YOM MUVTACH LO SHE'HOO BEN HAOLAM HABA

L'yilui Nishmat Avraham ben Ester & Israel ben Rivka.
From Rav Ovadya Yosef shlit’a Website:

1. “Rabbi Yehoshua tells us in Masechet Berachot (9b) that the correct time for the morning Keri’at Shema to be read is until the end of the third hour of the day. This means that from the beginning of the day, one must start counting three hours, and when these three hours elapse, the time for reciting Keri’at Shema has passed. This is because the Torah writes regarding the Mitzvah of Keri’at Shema, “And when you lay down and when you arise,” meaning that it must be read at the time people lay down to sleep at night and at the time that people arise from their beds in the morning. This time (in the morning) spans until the end of the third hour of the day.”

2. The three hours that we have mentioned are Halachic hours, meaning that the day, beginning from dawn and ending with the emergence of the stars (some say to calculate from sunrise to sunset), must be split into twelve equal parts, and every part shall be considered a Halachic hour. Thus, during the summer months when the days are longer, the Halachic hour will be longer as well; in the winter months when the days are shorter, the Halachic hour will subsequently shrink as well. These times are usually printed in calendars sold by G-d-fearing Jews in many Jewish communities around the world.”

CLD #301

Delta announced that it will make Saudi Arabian airlines part of its "SkyTeam." There is a single condition that AOL.com just revealed to the world: "Jews and Israelis, or passengers carrying any non-Islamic article of faith, will not be able to fly code-share flights from the U.S. to Saudi Arabia under Delta Air Line's new partnership with Saudi Arabian Airlines..."
A lady on Facebook was arguing with me regarding if we should hate barak obama or not. This is just another example why everyone with an Islamic background deep down inside has a natural hatred towards anything non-Islam!
This just teaches us how urgent it is to start Ve'Ahavta LeRe'echa Kamocha and the Ahavat Chinam we need to create for EACHOTHER NOW! Am Yisrael needs to join now and BH the only way we certainly have a point of similarity is with the Torah HaKdosha!
We all are Neshamot that makes up one big Neshama of Adam HaRishon and we all need to push for a higher spiritual level. Only then can we reach the days of Mashiach and really can tell eachother that we have completed the Tikkun Olam.

It is said how Chas VeChalilah there might be a time in the world where due to the Hatred of Yehudim, it will cause a stirking push for Ahavant Chinam (love of Brothers), and not in a time without this Hatred. Sometimes we might need hatred from anti-Semitics to do the job of bringing us together.

BH only Smachot, and theCLD wishes for you a Shabat
Shalom UMevorach.

KOL HASHONEH HALACHOT KOL YOM MUVTACH LO SHE'HOO BEN HAOLAM HABA

L'yilui Nishmat Avrahm ben Ester & Israel ben Rivka.
From Rav Ovadya Yosef shlita Website - halachayomit.co.il:

1. In the Mishna of Masechet Brachot and in the Gemara of Masechet Brachot (27a) Chazal say that Zman Shacharit is up until the end of four hours from the beginning of the day. Meaning, from Netz HaChama (Sunrise), which is found on calendars, one should count four hours, which is a third of the day (because everyday there are twelve hours, and four make up a third of the day). After four hours one may not pray Shacharit anymore (the Amida).

2. The four hours that we said we need to count from the Netz to see when one cannot pray Shacharit anymore are not actually four 60-minute hours, however they are Sha'ot Zmaniyot. And how do we count these hours? One divides the time of the day from the Netz to the Shkiya (sunset) by twelve, and every division is considered one hour. For example, if there are 756 minutes from Netz to Shkiya (12 hours, 36 minutes) then the Sha'ah Zmanit (one hour) is considered 1 hour, 3 minutes.

CLD #300

Because today (the 22nd of Sivan) is the Shloshim (30th day) for my Saba, Alav HaShalom, Zichrono Tzadik Livracha, I want to dedicate CLD #300 for his L'yilui Neshama and really BH in his memory may this CLD wake up the Hearts of Am Yisrael who read it.
As said before in another CLD, A Tzadik is the Gematriya of 204. Rav Nissim Levy shlit'a taught us the Mashma'ut (importance) of a Tzadik's Gematriya (Tzadi=90, Dalet=4, Yud=10, Kuf=100). When someone says Boi Kalah on Erev Shabat during Kabbalat Shabat, to welcome the Shabat to enter the world, there is a specific Gematriya of Boi Kalah also. Boi Kalah is Bet=2, Alef=1, Yud=10, Chaf=20, Lamed=30, Dalet=4 this altogether is 68. We say Boi Kalah three times during Lecha Dodi during Kabbalat Shabat, in total this comes out to 204! This means that all of us who say Boi Kallah and accept Shabat Kodesh are straight up Tzaddikim! Pshhhh, this means we do not need to do anything else, we are perfect, case closed, end of theCLD Blog.
WRONG! How do we know we always need to continue to build and rise up in the levels of Kdusha & Ruchaniyut? From Moshe Rabbenu from our Parasha, Parshat Korach that BH we will hear in Shul Shabat morning.
Moshe Rabbenu has a Machloket Lo LeShem Shamayim (not with the intentions to satisfy Heaven) with Korach, regarding the levels of Ruchaniyut in the Mishkan. Korach was a Levy, and he wanted to be a Kohen and rise up in the levels of Kdusha! What did Moshe tell him and his group of followers: Rav Lachem. It is too much for you!
When Moshe prayed 515 times to Hashem to get into Eretz Yisrael, Hashem answered to him Rav Lach! Just like you, Moshe Rabbenu, the most Anav (humble) person to walk on this earth, told Korach and his group that they have reached the limit of their Spirituality, so too you have reached yours! Wow. Crazy Mussar.
It seems that even if a Machloket Lo LeShem Shamayim (argument) might lead to a higher spiritual state, you should do it! Anyway, being the 300th CLD, we need to understand what we are entering. We are entering a mode of Reaching a Higher level fo Kdusha and Ruchaniyut.
WE NEED TO PUSH EVEN MORE NOW. BH the next 100 CLDs, if we have the zchut to do them, will help all of us push to reach higher and expand our spiritual potentials.
SHABAT SHALOM!
Only move up, because there is no such thing as staying constant: it's either up or down.

2. Two people who want to do Zimun and are in the middle of their Seuda when a third person wants to join the meal to make a Zimun, they can give him fruits, vegetables (minimum 27 grams), or a glass of wine then he can join them for a Zimun.

CLD #299

Someone told me today something unreal.
B’H he heard from another person from Yeshiva, who heard from a Kollel person, who heard from Rav Katz shlit’a a great answer regarding the idea of Nisim Gluyim (revealed miracles) in the time of the Tana’im of the Gemara (2000 years).
Someone asked Rav Katz: How come in the time of the Gemara one person literally had a Nes happen for him/her, but now we barely see any Nisim. He answered: If someone is far away from you, he needs to seem different compared to the background. For example if someone far away from you is wearing a white shirt, there needs to be a black or even dark background behind him to help pin point the person from far away. However, if someone is near you, obviously you do not need any proof or contrast in order to see where the person is.
The same goes for our generation. When we BH look for Hashem, we can really reach a point where we see Hashem in front of our eyes. Due to the high level of our generation in terms of closeness to the days of Mashiach, we do not need ANY NISIM to prove that Hashem is here live and now!
What does this show? IT SHOWS US THAT WE NEED TO CHANGE OUR OUTLOOK ON YAHADUT AND OUR GENERATION. We always believe, because of the Yetzer Hara, that HAshem Yerachem, we are very far away from Hashem. But in reality, due to the lack of closeness that the world has with Hashem, in reality every little thing we do is actually huge compared to the world’s potential of what needs to be done in terms of Ruchaniyut (Sprituality).
B’H we should all learn to see that we have huge potentials in regards to Yahadut and living a life of Torah. We can all do it BH, its just all up to you taking the first step and then Hashem does the rest.

Electric fans are very much needed in Eretz HaKodesh, especially with no A.C. in the Summer.
Baruch Hashem we here at theCLD push eachother to learn about the Ruchani World from the most random objects, animals, concepts, or even structures.
A fan is a simple object. It is built with a metal stand, a couple of propeller shaped plastic pieces that spin to create a faster process of the circulation of air, and an electric cord that runs the motor that tells the plastic pieces to move.
What can we learn from this? It is so simple. BARUCH HASHEM, we have the choice EVERYDAY to choose how quickly we can push ourselves to do Mitzvot, Chessed, Ma’asim Tovim, Limud Torah, LeFarnes our Mishpachot (Parnasa), etc! All we have to do is plug in our cords into the outlet, wake up, and realize we need to start working and moving and pushing to reach higher levels of success.
Its all in our hands. BUT IT ISN’T! Why? Because what does the electric cord do? What is our outlet? What is our source of life? HASHEM ELOKENU, our Aba in Shamayim.
Just like our Aba wants us to succeed and helps us everyday, so too and so much more so our Aba in Shamayim, who constantly looks out for us, and wants us to be close to Him just like every father.
However, when does someone loose that zchut (privelage) to be connected to an outlet, to have life, to be given the power to live by Hashem? When we choose to stop moving, stop rushing, stop running to Torah and Mitzvot, that’s when Hashem FORCES to take us out of the plug!
B’H we will see that the only way to really take advantage of life with Simcha and Ahava is through a life of Torah and Dvekut B’Hashem.

KOL HASHONEH HALACHOT KOL YOM MUVTACH LO SHE'HOO BEN HAOLAM HABA

L’yilui Nishmat Avraham ben Ester & Israel ben Rivka.
From Yalkut Yosef:

1. There are those who say the Mitzvot Ben Adam LeChavero (between person to person) do not need the intention of doing the Mitzvah itself during the Mitzvah itself. These Mitzvot include Tzedaka, Chessed, Kibud Av ve Em, Kibud Rav, and the like and the reason for these Miztvot not needing the intention of doing a Mitzvah is because in the end of the day the Mitzvah is done and accomplished.

2. When one comes to do Kriyat Shma, before he/she begins the Kriya, he/she needs to have the intention to establish the Mitzvah of Uniting Hashem’s name, and one who reads Shma should read it in fear to the point of shaking and sweat.

CLD #297

In the past, Rav Nissim Levy shlit’a explained to the kehila (congregation) certain things about the Kotel HaMa’aravi (The Western Wall). The Kotel is the outside wall of the walls of the actual Beit HaMikdash HaSheni (the second Beit HaMikdash) from over 2000 years ago! B’H we have the zchut to touch it, feel it, kiss it, and see it. It is a key part of our Emunah in Hashem because we see with our own eyes (unlike many other things in Yahadut) that there is something left of the Beit HaMikdash, which means the entire Torah is true.
But what is so special about this wall? I mean, its just like any other structure from thousands of years ago, BIG DEAL!?!?!! No. It is not. Why? Besides the fact that it is a part of the Holiest place in the world, where the Luchot HaBrit (10 Commandements Stones) were placed, the Mateh of Moshe (Staff), etc; the Kotel has a unique quality to it.
The Kotel was built using the money donated by the poor people. According to Rav Levy shlit’a, he said that the poor literally had no money. Back then, when someone was poor, it meant he/she literally did not have anything to eat and was on the point of starvation, literally depending fully on Hashem to have food for tomorrow. This passion that was inserted into the process of donating the money for the building of the Kotel, UNDER THE CIRCUMSTANCES mentioned above, created a perfect scenario that truly caused the poor person to give the money with his entire heart.
This shows us when someone wants to do something and REALLY SUCCEED, the ONLY way he/she will accomplish the goal is by doing it with YOUR ENTIRE HEART!
Therefore, the only way to get to a level where one can choose to do something with his/her heart is through living a life of Torah. Why? A Life of Torah throws at you all the nisyonot in the entire world, where after overcoming them, one can truly say that he/she has completely lived life.

KOL HASHONEH HALACHOT KOL YOM MUVTACH LO SHE'HOO BEN HAOLAM HABA

L’yilui Nishmat Avraham ben Ester & Israel ben Rivka.
From Yalkut Yosef:
1. After one uses the bathroom, either for solid or liquid excretions, he/she needs to do Netillat Yadayim (without Bracha) and say Birkat Asher Yatzar (in your Siddur). When saying this Bracha, he/she needs to have the intention of focusing on the wisdom Hashem used to create man and his entire biological system. This system is made up of many cells, with each cell given to man to operate in a certain way to defend the body from certain harmful germs that enter the body. Through saying Birkat Asher Yatzar one really shows thanks to Hashem with Simcha. Also when one says “Liphne Kise Kvodecha,” Before Your Chair of Respect, he/she is testifying that Hashem is the one who rules this delicate world.

2. Women also need to say the Bracha of Asher Yatzar. Children at age six and above need to be taught to say the Bracha as well after the use of the bathroom. All need to learn this Bracha by heart in order to make a big “Tikkun” (fixing) in the world and to understand its meaning when saying these fundamental words that make up Birkat Asher Yatzar.
