In the past, Rav Nissim Levy shlit’a explained to the kehila (congregation) certain things about the Kotel HaMa’aravi (The Western Wall). The Kotel is the outside wall of the walls of the actual Beit HaMikdash HaSheni (the second Beit HaMikdash) from over 2000 years ago! B’H we have the zchut to touch it, feel it, kiss it, and see it. It is a key part of our Emunah in Hashem because we see with our own eyes (unlike many other things in Yahadut) that there is something left of the Beit HaMikdash, which means the entire Torah is true.

But what is so special about this wall? I mean, its just like any other structure from thousands of years ago, BIG DEAL!?!?!! No. It is not. Why? Besides the fact that it is a part of the Holiest place in the world, where the Luchot HaBrit (10 Commandements Stones) were placed, the Mateh of Moshe (Staff), etc; the Kotel has a unique quality to it.

The Kotel was built using the money donated by the poor people. According to Rav Levy shlit’a, he said that the poor literally had no money. Back then, when someone was poor, it meant he/she literally did not have anything to eat and was on the point of starvation, literally depending fully on Hashem to have food for tomorrow. This passion that was inserted into the process of donating the money for the building of the Kotel, UNDER THE CIRCUMSTANCES mentioned above, created a perfect scenario that truly caused the poor person to give the money with his entire heart.

This shows us when someone wants to do something and REALLY SUCCEED, the ONLY way he/she will accomplish the goal is by doing it with YOUR ENTIRE HEART!

Therefore, the only way to get to a level where one can choose to do something with his/her heart is through living a life of Torah. Why? A Life of Torah throws at you all the nisyonot in the entire world, where after overcoming them, one can truly say that he/she has completely lived life.
