L’yilui Nishmat Avraham ben Ester & Israel ben Rivka. For the Refua Shlema of Moshe ben Mazal.
From Yalkut Yosef:
1. It is written in the Torah “Kabed Et Avicha Ve’et Imecha,” which is a Mitzvat Aseh (Positive Commandment) from the Torah to respect one’s parents. One should be very careful in regards to the respect and fear of his/her parent’s. Their value is like the value of Hashem. There are 3 partners to a person: Hashem, his/her father and mother. At the time when man respects his father and mother, Hashem says it is as if I Myself live between them and it is as if the person respect Hashem Himself. Therefore it is a BIG Chiyuv (obligation) on everyone to set time to learn Hilchot Kibud Av Ve’Em and become an expert in them (due to the strictness of the Mitzvah).
2. There is no limit to the Mitzvah of Kibud Av Ve’Em, which is a precious Mitzvah. Praised is the one who tries to respect his/her parents as much as he/she can. The one who does this earns a Long Life, Wealth, and general Hatzlacha. Also one will have the zchut of his children respecting him/her even at an old age. And the one who fulfills this in Eretz Yisrael has a longer reward than one outside of Eretz Yisrael.
