This CLD is for the Refua Shlema of Moshe ben Mazal.
Shavua Tov.
In Orchot Tzadikim, Perek Shlishi (Ch. 3) the Middah of Busha, or embarrassment is dicussed. This middah is very difficult to obtain in our society because everyone has this inner strive to reach a sense of accomplishment by being number one, or just arrogant in general.
The career world teaches us to be the ones on top, to step on people to succeed, to love yourself and only yourself, and most importantly: do not let anyone make you seem like a failure. The Torah HaKdosha tells us that it is okay to say “I don’t know” or even “I am wrong. Where do we learn this? From Korach and Adato, Korach and his group of followers. If Korach would just give in to his Yetzer Hara, which told him to begin a Machloket and go against Moshe Rabbenu’s leadership, he wouyld have succeeded in his political level and certainly the draga ruchanit he already reached (because Korach was not some simple Jew, he was actually from the family of Aharon HaKohen)!
We need to understand sometimes to give in to the Anger and simply be silent. Give in to the inner self that tells you “You need to be the one who speaks now because you are the smartest here,” and stay silent, and let other people be on top. Sometimes the embarrassment, the middah of Busha, helps in order to show others how to act. Why? Because in the end of the day we all need to learn from David HaMelech’s Sefer Tehillim, which says “Sheviti Hashem LeNegdi Tamid,” May I return to Hashem in front of me always. We need to literally practice, just like we do with Limud Torah, academics, sports, etc. to be embarrassed. In the end of the day the only way to succeed spiritually and reach a draga of kdusha that we need to reach is by being around those who we are embarrassed of, because we are always in front of Hashem. We practice this by being around the Chachmei Israel of our generation, because they are the ones who exemplify what Torah and Hashem is/are.
Do we do anything to tell ourselves we need to be embarrassed by Hashem’s presence, CONSTANTLY?
Time for us to wake up. Shavua Tov!
