For the Refua Shlema of Moshe ben Mazal.
B’H Bli Ayin Hara I love being in HaIr HaAtika (the old city), Yerushalayim HaKdosha! The best part of it is literally realizing at all times that you are in Hashem’s backyard, because is home (even though its under animal rule>Palestinians BH because obviously Hashem wants it that way) is right here!!!
So at the Kotel today, I am looking for one of the Siddurim I love to pray with, Kavanat HaLev, because just like in the Siddurim Yedid Hashem and Kol Yaakov it has translation of the words of Tefillah. As I am searching for the Siddur, I hear a little kid.
In the Kotel Tunnel itself a section of its floor is see-through, which has a 20 foot tunnel deep with a glass floor that’s very thick to hold a lot of weight. So this little kid is terrified of walking onto this floor and his father is urging him to walk on because it is fine! He is completely safe!
I was in shock at the Mussar I just learned! You don’t see it?!?!?
Hashem screams to us everyday: WAKE UP! THE TORAH IS THE TRUTH! Just take the First Step and I WILL DO THE REST! You ARE SAFE IF YOU JUST GIVE YOURSELF UP FOR THE TORAH HAKDOSHA!
But nooooo, we think we are smarter and know what is good for us. What is the little boy doing. He is following his instinct. He simply believes that he knows what is good for him. Staying away from the glass floor is the safest alternative.
But Hashem tells us take that first step. It might seem like it is a complete entrance to a deep pit of endless dreadfulness. But in reality it is just another cool part of the Kotel.
Obviously if Hashem gave us the Torah, then its guidelines is simply what is BEST for us, whether you think though or not, whether you want to believe it or not, whether you like it or not.
