However, when we look at the next Pasuk: Ya’er Hashem Panav Elecha Vichuneka, May
Hashem light up His face onto you and educate you, we see that there is no such
promise or guarantee of keeping this ”light.” This second Pasuk speaks about
the blessing of Spirituality, that one should rise up in spirituality and
become close to Hashem and feel his/her soul glue to Hashem and receive all the
positive and miraculous feeling of closeness from Hashem. However, WE DON’T SEE
HASHEM PROMISING ANY “SECURITY” over this blessing!
This teaches us that following the life of spirituality is
NOT EASY. However, because Hashem leaves it up to us to be stringent about staying
spiritual, we know the reward of being close to Hashem after toiling into the
work and service of Hashem is felt and appreciated much more. Meaning, when one
wants to be spiritual THEY MUST WORK FOR IT CONSTANTLY. Being Jewish is
continuous work that is NOT promised to us from inheritance or any prophecy.
It is true that one who enters the direction of spirituality
and TAKES IT UPON HIM/HERSELF TO BE PURE then Hashem DOES HELP! However, we
clearly see there is no guarantee that it will stick. Be’ezrat Hashem we should
have a shavua (week) of success in overcoming all our obstacles of spirituality
this week and see the light of Hashem promised in Birkat Kohanim by continuously working on our Service of
Hashem.
Never give up.
Shavua tov!
