CLD #409

For the Refua Shlema of Mordechai Tzvi ben Sara & Binyamin ben Blanka.
Nothing is wrong with Yoga.
Actually, everything is great about Yoga (except when doing it with the opposite sex because that goes against Halacha). Yoga is something that is healthy, it opens up your breathin system (cardio) and just helps you relieve stress. It also greatens possibility of having a longer life and it is just physically benefitial in everyway. If taught well, Yoga can really reduce stress and help you understand yourself better.
Yoga Yoga Yoga, its very easy to speak about Yoga and everyone will agree with me. But wait. Let’s start talking about something that has almost the SAME EXACT BENEFITS as Yoga and many people have many objections towards following and believing.
The Gemara is a piece of Torah, it is a piece of Divinity, it is a piece of G-D, it is a piece of Genius (the word genius is not even enough for the wisdom of the Holy Gemara). The Gemara is the physical Yoga of the mind, and the spiritual Yoga of the Nefesh (soul).
We need to understand that all the benefits to Yoga do not even match ONE BENEFIT of learning the Gemara. Besides the fact that the holy Gemara (the Talmud, Oral Torah) gives one intellectual benefit that is based on consistency, the Gemara also purifies. The Gemara, the Oral Torah, is considered one of the most legitimate sources of Truth and Wisdom in the History of the World.
And guess what? We are commanded to stretch our mind’s potential by learning it everyday and every night! Hashem says to completely delve our lives into the Oral Torah and written Torah. Even though we receive so many benefits from this, the highest level to attain is to learn Torah because G-d commanded us too. It sounds very simple, but it isn’t.

For Women the equivalency of receiving the benefits from learning Torah is by wearing Modest Clothing, married women covering their hair, etc.

B’H we should all chase after Mitzvot and realize the privilege of being born Jewish because only less than 0.02% have that privilege. Being a Jew means you have a direct connection with Hashem. If one really believes that Hashem is listening to him/her RIGHT NOW and they pray for something with all their heart, they will see what they asked for guaranteed (unless you pray that Hashem does what is best for you and maybe what you are wishing for is not best for you).

So men get to study torah and gemara and enhance their learning, improving their cognitive and theoretical abilities, learn the ways of hashem and become knowledgable.

Women get to wear a sheitel.

Surely you can not be serious that you believe this is equivalent?

First: thanks for commenting.
Second, I was wrong, what I should have said was: "For Women the equivalency of receiving the benefits from LIVING A LIFE OF Torah is by wearing Modest Clothing, married women covering their hair, etc."

However, what is equivalent is in regards to learning the ways of Hashem as u described. For a woman it is by being modest and for a man it is to connect on a Torah study level.

Think about it: a woman's personality fits with her materials, her clothing, make-up, features, etc. When she gives up a life of materialism for a life of Torah, she is actually receving (and not giving anythign up). She begins to think, she begins to debate, she begins to challenge society, and that causes her to reach a higher level of knowledge. Also, she has been in both worlds, so she has more experience and perspective, which makes her more able to solve problems in regards to modesty and keeping a Torah oriented household.

A man is all about the strength in confidence, reputation and his overall knowledge. So when a man comes to a group of guys, they begin to talk and end up trying to compete on who is more knowledgeable. So that concept of Mitzvot follows human nature.

On a spiritual level, purity is reached by a man differently than a woman. Hashem created the world that a woman receives the highest purity level by her Tzniyut (modesty). A man receives it by his consistentcy in Torah learning. thats just how the spiritual realm works. So with purtiy comes an easier/smoother access to spiritual knowledge. So in the end of the day the woman and the man are both equivalent when you are talking about eachother's duty as a Jew.
