CLD #323

For the Refua Shlema of Mordechai Tzvi ben Sara & Moshe ben Mazal.
Today BH we had the zchut to go to Ein Gedi and Yam HaMelach (the Dead Sea). Besides for the gorgeous view that Hashem gave me the zchut (privelage) to see, the nature and wildlife at this place was unbelievable.
One of the trees that really caught my attention was the Sodom’s Apple tree. It had these puffy balls of air that would open up to what seems like a walnut with white whiskers sticking out from them. Also before the fruit grows, there are these gorgeous tiny flowers that bloom with colors of white and purple.
At the Ein Gedi national park they had these posters that gave information about the wildlife in the area. One of the posters spoke about this flower and explained that its actually poisonous when eaten! However, this Sodom’s Apple flower’s poison does not effect some species that have become immune to the poison.
What does this teach us? That we can become immune to the Yetzer Hara, to spiritual poison. In the Gemara it explains that way of a Rasha (wicked person) is to have his sins seem like they are allowed already. What does this mean? The first time after someone does a sin they feel fuilty, but after the second and/or it already seems like its another action that is allowed!
We need to prevent ourselves from become immune to Averot (sins), because the Yetzer Hara angel wants us to fail at doing Mitzvot and one without Mitzvot is one who is dead, so in reality the Yetzer Hara wants to kill us.
The only power that can overcome this angel is the power of the Torah HaKdosha, like it sais in the Gemara: “I created Yetzer and I created Torah as its cure.”

Torah Learning = #1 Priority in Hashem’s eyes.
