KOL HASHONEH HALACHOT KOL YOM MUVTACH LO SHE'HOO BEN HAOLAM HABA

1. Lel HaSeder consists of many steps. The first one is Kadesh, where we say Kiddush on wine. After filling up the wine to the top, we pour in 3 drops of water one after the other. Wine symbolizes din (judgment) and water symbolizes rachmamim (mercy), so in order to dilute the din with the rachamim, we pour in water.

2. Throughout the entire Lel HaSeder we drink 4 cups of wine. After each wine we need to clean out the cup. Symbolizing freedom, someone other than the Ba'al HaBayit needs to pour the wine into the cup for him to hand it to the Ba'al HaBayit (the Father). The home owner (usually the father) needs to accept the cup of wine with both hands, and says the Kiddush with his right hand.
