For
the Ilui Neshama of Avraham ben Ester ZT’L, Yissachar ben Yona ZT’L and Haviva
bat Yocheved Z’L.
From Yalkut Yosef:
1. Before an individual says Birkat HaMazon (the Blessing in the end of a meal including bread), he/she must have the intention of fulfilling a Mitzvah from the Torah, because Mitzvot need Kavana (proper intention). If an individual did not have the kavana of fulfilling the Mitzvah, they still fulfilled the obligation because obviously the person set their mind to fulfill the Mitzvah.
2. One should be cautious
not to stop in the middle of the Birkat HaMazon and speak simple conversation
or stop for a large amount of time (more than two minutes) in the middle. Even
in the middle of the HaRahaman Blessings one should be cautious not to
speak, and even if one must speak in the middle there is no issur (prohibition)
because the HaRahaman Blessings is a minhag (custom). However, if an individual
is saying HaGefen after Birkat HaMazon (the blessing on wine that was
poured before Birkat HaMazon) they should not speak whatsoever. It is simple
and certain that one can say Amen and answer to Kadish, Kedusha and other
Berakhot during HaRahaman.
