For the Ilui
Neshama of Avraham ben Ester ZT’L. Lehavdeel For the Refua Shlema of Yaakov Hai
ben Margalit shlit’a.
Translated from Yalkut Yosef Kitzur Shulchan Aruch:
1. During aseret yemei
teshuva (the days we are in now, between Rosh HaShanah and Yom Kippur) we
change the end of two Berachot (blessings) in the Amida prayer: instead of Baruch Ata Hashem Ha’El HaKadosh we say HaMelech HaKadosh and instead of
saying Baruch Ata Hashem Melech Ohev Tzedaka UMishpat we say
HaMelech
HaMishpat. Because of Hashem’s kingship and power of sitting on the
Throne of Judgment during these days, where He decides who will be for life and
who the opposite, the Hachamim (Sages) decreed that we end these Berachot
(blessings) with kingship.
2. If someone made a mistake and said Ha’el HaKadosh instead of HaMelech HaKadosh and remembered the
mistake within three seconds (toch kedei
dibbur) of saying the mistaken beracha can immediately say HaMelech HaKadosh and fulfilled the
obligation of saying the proper Beracha (blessing). If three seconds passed
after saying the wrong Beracha, one must start the Amida again from the
beginning.
Gemar Hatima Tova.
May your judgment be
sealed in the Book of Life.
