For the Ilui Neshama of Avraham ben Ester ZT’L & Yissachar ben Yona Z’L.
We have officially began the 10 awesome days of Aseret Yemei Teshuva, which are the
first 10 days of the month of Tishrei falling from Rosh HaShanah until the end
of Yom Kippur. Rav Shimshon Pinkus shlit’a explains that these 10 days are days
that Hashem is the one who does the effort to get close to us!
In any case, let’s speak a little bit about the basics
behind Teshuva. Teshuva brings the individual closer to Hashem in general.
Hazal (our Sages) tell us in Masechet Yoma (86a) that Teshuva is so big that is
reaches Hashem’s throne in Shamayim (the Heavens).
What is a sin? A sin is total spiritual (and usually
physical) darkness. Sin is surrounded by depression, failure and overall
disconnection from reality. When one reaches the Kisseh HaKavod, the individual enters a reality filled with light
and the entire identity of sin simply melts from the power or the spiritual and
holy throne of Hashem (The Kisseh HaKavod).
These 10 days
are days of closeness to Hashem, where Hashem in simpler terms walks over to
us. If what we said before is talking about Teshuva (repentance) in general
throughout all the days of the year where one’s Teshuva reaches the Kisseh
HaKavod, how much more so during these 10 days of Teshuva between Rosh HaShanah
and Yom Kippur where its as if the Kisseh HaKavod comes to us! When there is
closeness between us and Hashem its as if the het (sin) is nullified, so do Teshuva and smile!
Therefore, now we see the power of Teshuva let’s take it
upon ourselves to actually change G-d willing. Tomorrow is Tzom Gadalya, maybe
we can start by actually fasting with a meaningful intention of bringing
ourselves closer to the ultimate geula and the times of Mashiach BB’A!
Shana Tova & Tzom
Mo’il (meaningful fast)!
