For the Ilui Neshama of Avraham ben Ester ZT’L. Lehavdeel
For the Refua Shlema of Yaakov Hai ben Margalit shlit’a.
Translated from Yalkut Yosef Kitzur Shulchan Aruch:
1. A Jew who makes money from playing musical instruments
live and does not know any other profession, may continue playing instruments
ONLY in front of goyim (non-Jews) if
he/she cannot afford basic foods (bread and spreads) even after Rosh Chodesh Av
(where the mourning period greatens). However, if the Jew plays in front of
Jews this is absolutely prohibited, even if they are secular Jews.
2. One would think that laughing greatly during this period
of Ben HaMetzarim (between 17th
Tammuz and 9th of Av) is prohibited, but the truth is even before
this time one should not fill up their mouths with laughter to avoid letting
the Yetzer Hara (evil inclination)
overcome him/her.
