CLD #639

For the Ilui Neshama of Avraham ben Ester ZT’L.
A Tzadik (a righteous individual) is a person who works on himself day in day out. There are no breaks, there are no shortcuts. All the tiny details count. A tzadik takes years and years to build himself and is a strong person academically and emotionally. This person reaches an age where Torah is the #1 priority and everything is seen through a real Jewish perspective. Whenever a situation arises he asks himself: How would the Shulchan Aruch deal with this situation, how would the Gemara focus onto this happening?

A Rasha (wicked individual) does not even know he is a rasha. He lives his life thinking he is a noble and modest person, he probably gives Tzedaka everyday and listens to everything his Rabbi tells him. A Rasha is someone who has Ga’ava (arrogance/pride) and believes everything is in his hands. If a situation arises he listens to what “makes sense,” and not what the Torah says (unless it “makes sense”).

A Rasha can be someone wearing Black and White and has a Black Hat. A Rasha can be someone wearing a bathing suit in a mixed beach in Tel Aviv. A Tzadik can be someone at a bar in Eilat. A Tzadik can be someone in Jerusalem praying and learning Torah with real passion and full heart to please Hashem (there are such people).

There is a fine line between a Tzadik and a Rasha, as we see from gematriya (numerical value) of shalom (peace) and esav (Yitzchak’s evil son), which both add up to 376. The fine line relies on the heart and its desires. How does someone refine all his evil/negative characteristic flaws? THE ONLY WAY IS BY LEARNING TORAH. Even if someone learns for the wrong reasons, Hazal teach us that it will eventually be straightened out.

The point of this CLD is to get people to think its not always whats on the outside that counts. BUT at the same time if I am going to need help I will go to the individual who is wearing a Kippah and he gets a Mitzvah for helping me out. Also at the same time I will G-d forbid get judged because I am staring immorally at a woman’s legs which are uncovered for the world to see (doesn’t matter how spiritual she is). At the end of the day Hashem is watching and hearing everything.

Judaism=Think.
What is the point of living?
