For
the Ilui Neshama of Avraham ben Ester ZT’L.
There
are three main types of blood cells in the Human Body: Red Blood Cells which
are most common, White Blood Cells and Platelets. Red Blood Cells basically
make up the transportation system in the human body to carry oxygen to major
parts and take away all the useless minerals and nutrients from the areas of
the body. White Blood Cells is like the main infirmary care unit for the human
body fighting against disease G-d forbid, germs and any other harmful cellular organisms
that do harm to the body. Platelets act like the emergency care unit and EMTs
for any bruises, cuts and/or scabs.
What
does this have to do with Judaism? What doesn’t it have to do with Judaism! We
all know we live in a physical world that is jam packed with spirituality that
we cannot see (unless we are on a very high spiritual level). Red Blood Cells
are like all your friends and family around you. They are what push you
everyday to get up in the morning, to go to Shul, to do Shabbat dinners and
meals, to get ready for the next holiday, etc. Red Blood Cells are important
because they are constantly needed. This teaches us the importance of a holy hevra
(group of friends) and where is the line of closeness with those who are not
helping you progress in your Advodat Hashem (service of Hashem).
White
Blood Cells is probably the most important because in times of danger you need
them the most. They constantly fight off all the negatives around you. White
Blood Cells are the least amount of blood cells in your body. These are the
Rabbis, teachers, mentors and even Talmidei Hachamim (Torah Scholars) you are
close with. These people help you after a big battle with the Yetzer Hara, or
when unfortunately we fall to our desires and enter a state of negativity. They
are the ones who cheer you up and understand your spiritual needs unlike your
family. They are your source of spiritual light and connection with the way to
channel your actions and Avodat Hashem during major times in your life.
Platelets
is important as well because these blood cells is the EMT unit during a time of
emergency. These people are those in the community that help build a mikveh, a
Shul, a Torah/Beit Midrash location, etc. These people in our local and even
global community are the EMT because they provide us with places we can go to
in times of serious falls. When the friends, family and Rabbis do not help, G-d
forbid and we do not feel G-d and do not ‘see G-d,’ we run to the mikveh to
dip. We chase after the Torah to read more Tehillim and more commentaries at
the Beit Midrash to get a nice turbo boost of Torah, etc.
Torah
is everywhere, we just need to open our eyes to see it. Or at least begin to
want it.
