For the Ilui Neshama of Avraham ben Ester ZT’L. Lehavdeel
For the Refua Shlema of Chai Yaakov ben Margalit shlit’a.
Translated from Yalkut Yosef Kitzur Shulchan Aruch:
1. What is the limit of the Mitzvah of fearing one’s father
and mother? If a son is dress nice in front of honored guests, and one of his
parents came over, ripped his clothing and spit in his face; he is not allowed
to show any revenge in anyway and must stay silent and have fear in Hashem, who
commanded us to be fearful of ours parents. If one speaks against his/her
parents, they violate a Torah law.
2. One may not ask his/her parent to service him/her, even
if the parent ‘gave up’ his/her Kavod
(respect). And one should be cautious not to ask his/her parents to pass over
any plate of food during a meal, even if his/her father is not a ben-Torah.
However; if one needs the food, there is no other way of getting it and the
parent will be happy with passing it over, it is allowed.
