For the Ilui Neshama of Avraham ben Ester ZT’L.
“U’Mauch VeKatut VeNatuk VeCharut Lo Takrivu L’Hashem UveArtzechem Lo
Ta’asu”
Vakiyrah 22:24
Parahsat Emor is a special Parasha in the Holy Torah because
at one side it only discusses major laws for Kohanim, who are a small
group of Am Yisrael, and on the other hand it includes the major laws of all
the Hagim (Holidays) of the Calender.
Anyways, in the part of the Kohanim there are some laws
discussed about Korbanot (animal sacrifices) in general. One of the Halachot is
learned from the Pasuk on top. It discusses how animals which have had their
reproductive parts severed cannot be sacrificed. What does that have to do with
me and my life and Judaism?
An animal’s highest privilege in this world is to be
sacrificed so a Jew can get closer to Hashem and erase his sins at the cost of
the animal’s life. Now, what can we learn from the Pasuk on top? Only an animal
that is complete health-wise with a full reproductive system can be sacrificed
for the purposes of purity and the alter in the Beit HaMikdash. This teaches us
that Hashem is always looking for perfection and completion. In Hagigah 2b the
Gemara brings down the Pasuk from Yeshayahu 45:18 that says Hashem created the
world for its inhabitation. The beauty of Peru U’rvu (the Mitzvah of
reproducing according to the Torah) is unbelievable.
As known throughout newspaper websites and media channels
across the U.S., the topic of homosexuality has hit president obama in the face
this week. Many people are thinking that it is a topic that is important and
that is fine. However; to be a Jew who believes in the Torah and go against
Hashem and say that homosexuality should be allowed and even respected is
absolutely uncalled for. It is clear in Vayikrah 20:13 that Hashem is sees the
act of two men together as an abomination. There is no excuse to let this
conduct happen. Also it has brought to my attention that the Noachide laws
forbid such acts of immorality as well, meaning these acts are not prohibited
solely for Jews, but for all mankind.
Therefore, this Shabbat we should think about the purity
behind a man and a woman coming together on spiritual, religious, pure,
romantic, intimate and all other levels and see the clear support from the
Torah telling us to get married.
B’H all those who are having difficulty in the field of
Shidduchim should find their Zicug from Shoresh Nishmatem.
SHABBAT SHALOM!
