For the Ilui Neshama of Avraham ben Ester ZT’L. Lehavdeel For the Refua Shlema of Chai Yaakov ben Margalit shlit’a.
Translated from Yalkut Yosef Kitzur Shulchan Aruch:
1. It is best, Lechatchila, to say the Beracha of Sefirat HaOmer and count the Day of the Omer in the language one is most comfortable in, however; there are those who argue that it is best to count the Omer in lashon HaKodesh (the language of the Torah, Hebrew).
2. The one who stands in a place where it smells horrible or a baby's dirty diaper is present and cannot say the beracha of Sefirat HaOmer with Hashem's name, should simply count the day of the omer (like yesterday's Halachot) and not say the beracha. So whoever is in prison should count the Omer without a Beracha not to lose the Mitzvah of counting the Omer next time where there is no bad smell. It is best to count the Omer without a beracha than not say it at all.
