For the Ilui Neshama of Avraham ben Ester ZT’L. Lehavdeel
For the Refua Shlema of Chai Yaakov ben Margalit shlit’a.
Translated from Yalkut Yosef Kitzur Shulchan Aruch:
1. Even though there is no chiyuv (mandatory action) to eat meat on
Shabbat Kodesh (because there is no chiyuv
to be happy on Shabbat, which means to drink wine and eat meat). In any case,
whoever can buy meat for Shabbat it is good and recommended to do so. One
should greaten the intake of meat, wine and delicious foods based on one’s
financial status. One should also consume foods they like specifically on
Shabbat.
2. It is also correct and recommended to eat fish on
Shabbat. If one can, he/she should have fish in all the Seudot (meals) of Shabbat. However, if one can’t eat fish in all
the Seudot of Shabbat, the minimum consumption of fish should be on Lel Shabbat
meal (Friday night) and Seuda Shlishit (Third meal after Mincha Shabbat
afternoon). Whoever does not like the tatse of fish is not obligated to eat
fish because Shabbat food should be eaten for pleasure and not for suffering. Between
the fish and meat during the meal one should wash their hands, clean their
mouth with a napkin and take a couple sips of a beverage. If one ate the fish
with a fork, instead of washing their hands they can be lenient and just make
sure their hands are clean (but washing their mouth is mandatory).
