For the Ilui Neshama of Avraham ben Ester ZT’L.
Today on the subway, as the doors were clothing in the
corner of my eye was something so simple. Something that we can walk by
everyday five or six times that almost nobody pays attention to. It was a
payphone. But not the regular site of a payphone. Rather, a payphone with the
phone just hanging off the machine.
I asked myself: What is Hashem trying to tell me?
Here at theCLD we try to glue ourselves to the values and
lessons we learn from our Rabbis in the Jewish world. Everything that a Jew
goes through can be linked to his/her level in Avodat Hashem (Service of
Hashem). So I am looking at this payphone with the headset hanging below the
box. Its just there. Ignored by everyone like someone is on the other line
waiting for someone, anyone at all to speak to them.
I have this shocked feeling inside me: Am I leaving Hashem
behind and ignoring Him in the middle of my day? What am I doing wrong? Then I
started thinking. Collectively, if one takes all his/her actions throughout the
day they are sadly not bringing
Hashem in their issues. They are not
asking themselves, what is Hashem trying to tell me? How can I fix this? What
should I tell Hashem right now in prayer?
Hashem speaks to us everyday. We just need to include Him in
everything we do, not only when our stock price is dropping before our eyes. B’H
we will have the zechut to enjoy a Shabbat Kodesh full of Simcha (happiness),
Love and Yirat Shamayim (Fear of Heaven) with our family and friends.
SHABBAT SHALOM!
