For the Ilui Neshama of Avraham ben Ester ZT’L.
Parshiyot Vayakhel-Pekudei 5772.
When we have a double Parasha we receive from Hashem double
the intensity of Kedusha, Spiritual Strength and overall happiness. Both Parshiyot
speak in great detail about each part that made up the Mishkan. The last three
Parshiyot also had the detailed make up of the Mishkan, the instructions with
the Kohanim’s jobs, the Leviite Jobs in the Mishkan and the deep secrets behind
every utensil. So we see a ‘repetition.’ But in reality, there is no such
repetition in the Torah. Every single syllable is there for a reason, even if
we do not know it.
However, one of the things we see a little unique and
different from the previous Parshiyot is the ‘labeling’ of the Mishkan. In
Shemot 37:1 the Torah tells us that Betzalel
from the Tribe of Yehudah and the grandson of Miriam (Moshe’s sister) is the
only one who did all the work for the Mishkan. But wait, wasn’t all of Israel
at the work site building the utensils, the alters, burning the silver, gold,
copper, the site was probably unbelievable to see! At one point in our
Parshiyot the Torah explains that Moshe Rabbeinu commanded the entire Nation to
stop providing him with items for the Mishkan because it was too much! Do we ever hear those words in
any businesses today?!
So why is the Torah telling me Betzalel is the only one who
built the Mishkan? Rashi briefly states that Bezalel was the only indiviual out
of 600,000 men who really put his entire nefesh,
his soul into the job. Living in a world of such distraction, especially in 21st
century America it is almost impossible to connect with Hashem. The only way to
real success is when puts all himself in the work. If you have ever seen or met
a CEO of a company or any successful religious leader, Rabbi or Rebetzin; they
all have one thing in common: they put their entire life into their work. In
regards to Judaism, every Jew is basically losing out when they do not connect
with Hashem. When we don’t put our all we will never be passionate enough to
win.
In addition to that, Betzalel is the role model we need to look
up to and follow. He completely did all the work, 100% of it, with his heart and soul knowing
Hashem is the one giving him the strength. Rashi explains that Betzalel is named for the building of the Mishkan! One of the most historic and popular building sites in the world was named after him because of his devotion to Hashem's commandments. It is known that when someone is in
total belief of Hashem, with strong Emunah; that power builds for him an invisible protective shield.
A man with Emunah can
never be broken.
Where can we begin
seeing that? By keeping Shabbat. Even though we avoid work, that rest is the
battery for the following week.
SHABBAT SHALOM!
P.S. Please don't forget that its Shabbat Parah as well, meaning its the final Shabbat before Rosh Chodesh Nissan.
