For the Ilui Neshama of Avraham ben Ester ZT’L.
The Torah is the center for behavior, knowledge, emotion,
motivation, prophecy, and everything in between. When I say everything I mean
everything.
Where do we see Finance and the Time Value of Money in the
Torah? Open the Gemara (Talmud) to Masechet Kiddushin and in the first Perek
you see a list of combinations of coins, currencies, and calculations.
Where do we see Biology in the Torah? The question is where
do we not see Biology?!
Open up Parashat Terumah with the multicolored animal (kind
of like a zebra but with rainbow colored stripes) that went extinct. Take the
stories of the Beit HaMikdash from the Navi about the special worm that lazered (like lazer surgery) elements for the unbelievable vessels and objects in the Holy of Holies, the Mizbeach, the Heichal, etc.!
Where do we see childbearing in the Torah? Open up the
Mishnah, Masechet Peah, where it speaks about the times to leave a part of your
field for the poor. One of those times is when women stop feeding their
children milk and had time to go pick up the wheat.
Where do we see Architecture in the Torah? Open up the Navi
on the structure of the Beit HaMikdash. Maybe open up the Torah on the Mishkan
and all the lengths and sizes of the Aron HaKodesh, the Menorah, the Shulchan
etc.
Where do we see Poetry in the Torah? Open up Tehillim,
Mishlei, Kohelet, Shir HaShirim, Ester, etc.
Where do we see Psychology in the Torah? Open up the Midrash
to Korach and Ester to see how Haman and Korach’s wives were at the center of
the argument, motivating the two figures to continue in their missions!
Where do we see love in the Torah? Open up Shir HaShirim and
just read the English translation. If you’re a girl you might faint.
Where do we see Management in the Torah? Open up Sefer
Devarim and read about Moshe’s managing tactics. Rabbis say that Politicians
learn how to speak with lower management teams and the public by learning Moshe
Rabbeinu’s ways.
Just 5 minutes a day of Torah learning can bring you to
great heights of wisdom, love for Hashem, and overall happiness. In the end of
the day we still need to know we are learning because Hashem instructs us to
and not only because of the large benefits behind the Holy Torah.
