For the Ilui Neshama of Avraham ben Ester ZT’L. Lehavdeel
For the Refua Shlema of Chai Yaakov ben Margalit shlit’a.
Translated from Mekor Chaim Kitzur Shulchan Aruch:
1. One needs to be cautious with doing Netillat Yadayim (washing
one’s hands before eating Bread), because all who belittle or
undervalue Netillat Yadayim must be excommunicated, comes to poverty, and is
taken out of this world (this is translated directly from Mekor Chaim, page
59). Even though the minimum amount needed to be poured on one’s hands is 87
grams (Revi’it), it is suggested to
use more than that.
2. All who eat (at least 56 grams of) bread that has the
proper First Beracha of HaMotzi, must
do Netillat Yadayim, even if it the most plain bread and/or his/her hands are
clean. If one eats less than KaBetzah
(56 grams) of bread, they should do Netillat Yadayim without the Beracha for the Netillah, Al Netillat Yadayim. If one eats less than KaZayit (27 grams) of bread, there are those who say they do not
need to do Netillah at all; but we should be stringent and do Netillah without
a Beracha anyway.
