CLD #506

For the Ilui Neshama of Avraham ben Ester ZT’L.

FIRST OF ALL: CHAG SAMEACH!
TU B SHEVAT 5772!

The Torah clearly asks the rhetorical question: “Ki Ha’Adam Etz HaSadeh” (Is it that the man is like the tree of the field?) Devarim 20:19. What does it mean that man is like a tree?
Rav Nissim Levy shlit’a says something remarkably intelligent. Take a tree and flip it upside down. That is exactly what man is. Man is an upside down tree. How? The roots of the tree is at the top of man, the brain, where if you simply look at the Leshem Yechud for Tefillin in the morning, you can see that Man’s brain represents the Neshama (Jewish Soul).
If we look deeper at the Upside Down Tree metaphor we can say that the roots go further than the limitations of the physical body itself, rather the roots go all the way up to Shamayim to actually connect with Hashem, which is the source for all spiritual power!
Continuing with this train of thought, we can add that the fruits of the tree come from the bottom parts of man! Man’s bottom parts are his reproductive organs that are known to produce offspring with the proper female reproductive agents!
Tu B’Shevat is a holiday where we strictly focus on the present and how it will affect my future, either for good or the opposite, G-d forbid. We need to know that just like the Ilanot that first begin to reproduce their fruits on this same day in nature’s cycle, so too we can begin to produce our spiritual fruits into the world by starting fresh and growing with this spiritual boost that is in the air! We can never give up because Hashem’s mercy is everlasting and because we always always always have a second chance.
Never let go of Hashem no matter what situation you are in and Hashem will never forget you. Just like you need to do at a job interview, which is to show the employer your strength, Lehavdeel so too with Hashem, to show Him your Spiritual Strengths and how you embrace that into the hearts of others around you to further publicize Hashem’s name in the world! We are all filled with 613 Mitzvot just like the Pomegranate has 613 seeds (Plus the Rimon is one of the Shivat HaMinim, the Seven Species)!

CHAG SAMEACH!
