For the Ilui Neshama of Avraham ben Ester ZT’L. Lehavdeel
For the Refua Shlema of Chai Yaakov ben Margalit shlit’a.
Translated from Yalkut Yosef:
1. We do not say Vidui
and Nefillat Apayim (Tachanun) on Tu
B’Shevat. It is a happy occasion and the Rosh HaShanah (New Year) for the Ilanot (fruit trees).
2. We take upon ourselves the pleasant minhag (custom) to say Berachot and eat many fruits on Tu B’Shevat,
especially those fruits that have been praised by Eretz Yisrael’s holy soil
(which are the Seven Species, the Shivat
HaMinim: Dates, Figs, Pomegranates, Grapes, Wheat, Olives and Barley). By
doing so, we state that it is the Rosh HaShanah for the Ilanot.
