Have you ever seen those badly used/torn/worn-out Siddurim
(prayer books) that look like they have been from the 1800’s?
Those are pretty hard to find, but we all know that those
Siddurim are so precious. With the amount of tears that the Jew put effort into
dropping there and the amount of emotion and passion put into every word from
that Siddur means so much that its power transforms the Siddur into a spiritual
anecdote of what Judaism is all about.
Well, after taking a couple of seconds to realize how
enriching and deep the Torah is and Prayer in general, we can easily come to
the conclusion that it is not so simple to just see one of these Siddurim and
just walk by it without even a glance. We all know how much spirituality was
worth to the average Jew back in the day.
Now let’s take this Siddur and apply it to the average Jew
today.
What do I mean? We are in this world for B’H 120 Happy Years
Devoted to Hashem. However, life is not so rainbow-y, fluffy and sweet with
butterflies and a beautiful sunrise in the background. Life is not easy. There
is no such thing as plastering a real smile on our face throughout the entire
show.
BUT, there is such a thing as being torn apart, being beaten
and being challenged by joining another friend’s horrible situation and getting
them out of it ALL WITH THE RIGHT ATTITUDE. The Siddur is the same thing. It
went through a rollercoaster of events. It struggled with its owner in Prayer
and it succeeded by staying alive and still has its meaning with the words it
holds.
We are Jewish. It is not easy. This means when one really
follows the Torah, he/she has obstacles throughout the entire road. However,
after really walking hand-in-hand with Hashem, through the spiritual beatings and
obstacles; we end up with a Glorious Result of Emunah in Hashem and overall
happiness.
B’H during the
obstacles and the fighting with the Yetzer
Hara (Evil Inclination), we should all come out victorious in true simcha, followed by Bi’at HaMashiach (the arrival of the Mashiach). We are part of such a rich religion and lifestyle. Why do we let ourselves get upset with Living a Life of Torah?
