CLD #456

For the Ilui Neshama of Avraham ben Ester ZT’L.
Chanukah is all about light. Physical light, spiritual light, and every other type of light you can think of. Here are two beautiful things about Chanukah that can help us realize how BIG Chanukah is Spiritually.
We are all stuck in finals and end of the semester strains, so let's wake up fresh and get pumped for Chanukah!
The first thing is what we heard from a shiur today that we absolutely must share with you! Rav Shlomo Pinto shlit’a teaches according to the Kabbalah that the highest spiritual level we reach during the week is during the Mussaf Tefillah after reading the Torah on Shabbat morning. So because of Kabbalsitic reasons, the same ‘spiritual light’ that is created from the Shabbat morning Mussaf tefillah, so too that same light is generated from ALL EIGHT DAYS OF CHANUKAH! If that doesn’t get you inspired to understand how big Chanukah is, maybe the next thing will.
In a Halacha in Yalkut Yosef (Rav Yitzchak Yosef’s son wrote a set of books on Sephardic Halachot), which speaks about Chanukah, it adds a short prayer for Am Yisrael that we should have the zchut (privilege) to see Mashiach to redeem us to Yerushalayim Ir HaKodesh. However, Rav Yitzchak Yosef adds a twist to the word Mashiach, he puts a ‘ ” ’ on the word Mashiach. In the paranthesis that follows, he explains what Mashiach stands for (because that sign means that the word is an acronym for a phrase). Mashiach, says Rav Yitzchak, stands for four words: Mem stands for Madleekim (lighting), Shin stands for Shmonat (eight), Yud stands for Yemei (days), and Chet stands for Chanukah. What does this spell out? Madleekim Shmonat Yemei Chanukah, Lighting the Eight Days of Chanukah!

What does this tell us?
The power of Chanukah has the STRENGTH & POTENTIAL to bring Mashiach for the Final Yeshuah (redemption)!

What does Mashiach mean?
To have the entire world devoted strictly to Hashem, which is everlasting good and happiness.

Chag Sameach!
