KOL HASHONEH HALACHOT BECHOL YOM MUVTACH LO SHEHOO BEN HAOLAM HABA

For the Ilui Neshama of Avraham ben Ester & Israel Ben Rivka.
Translated from Yalkut Yosef:

1. If someone said the Beracha of “Boreh Pri Ha’Adama” (usually said for vegetables) on a Fruit (that usually has the Beracha of “Boreh Pri Ha’Etz”) he/she do not need to say another Beracha and can eat the fruit (and even if more fruits were brought to eat, one should not say a Beracha on them as well). This is because Boreh Pri Ha’Adama means, who created fruits of the ground and since trees come from the ground then it makes sense that this Beracha is relevant for a fruit as well. However, if one says the Beracha of  “Boreh Pri Ha’Etz” on a vegetable (that usually has the Beracha of “Boreh Pri Ha’Adama”) then one cannot eat the vegetable. If one realizes his/her mistake immediately after (within 3 seconds) of saying the false Beracha they can quickly correct themselves by saying “Boreh Pri Ha’Adama” and then eat the vegetable.

2. Therefore, if one has a doubt whether to say the Beracha of “Ha’Adama” or “Ha’Etz” on certain produce and he/she cannot find out the proper Beracha, one should say the Beracha of “Boreh Pri Ha’Adama.” And for the worst case scenario one can say “Shehakol Nehiyah Bidvaro” and that is fine as well. And for something that is not from the ground (is not produce at all), one can say the Beracha of “Shehakol Nehiyah Bidvaro.”
