KOL HASHONEH HALACHOT BECHOL YOM MUVTACH LO SHEHOO BEN HAOLAM HABA

L’yilui Nishamt Avraham ben Ester.
From Ve’En Lamo Michshol:

1. One needs to be very catutious regarding the respect and fear of his/her parents. And they are not allowed to sit in their father’s chair (the one that is different than all other chairs in the table/house). This is still held even if the person moves the chair from its original place. This prohibiton is only held when the father is at home or in the child’s presence, but when the father is not there; one can be lenient and sit.

2. A son/daughter cannot ask his/her parents for any type of service, because this is not under respecting one’s parents. Therefore, when the family sits together in one setting, and the son/daughter cannot reach a dish, he/she cannot ask the parent for the dish; rather one should say “can someone please hand over the dish,” and then if the parent passes the dish then this is okay.
