L’yilui Nishamt Avraham ben Ester, Shahin Shmuel
ben Hadassa &
Israel Ben Rivka.
From Yalkut Yosef about Yom Kippur (begins 6:09pm EST
TONIGHT):
1. Whoever forgot its Yom Kippur and by accident said a
Beracha on food and was about to eat should not try it. Immediately after this,
one should say: “Baruch Shem Kvod
Malchuto LeOlam Va’Ed.” One would think to try the food because on regular
fasts if one does say a Beracha accidentally on food then he/she should taste a
very small amount of the food/beverage to avoid saying a Beracha Levatala.
2. Bathing is prohibited on Yom Kippur, doesn’t matter hot
or cold water, most of the body or all the body, and even a part of the body.
This halacha is in regard to receiving pleasure from bathing. So if one got dirty
from any type of dirt or the like (after using the toilet, cleaning a baby,
bleeding, etc.) he/she is allowed to wash that part of the body, because the
intention is obviously not for pleasure. However, one should be cautious to
only clean the intended location. This also means that in the morning when one
wakes up to do Netillat Yadayim they should do it in the regular order (6
washes in this order: Right-Left-Right-Left-Right-Left) only up to the knuckles.
