CLD #394

For the Refua Shlema of Mordechai Tzvi ben Sara & Binyamin ben Blanka.
These are the days of Aseret Yemei Tshuva, which are for TSHUVA! Hashem tells us: I am helping you, just want it! In reality we all have a huge urge to get close to Hashem, so why is it so difficult?
How can we understand that INSIDE FEELING OF WANTING to get close to Hashem and do Tshuva?
Ice Cream Refrigerators (like the ones outside all the Delis in Israel). We are born with empty Ice Cream Refriegerators. Throughout life we fill them up. Already at age 8 Days Old we pack it with Ice Cream from a single Mitzvah of Brit Milah (circumcision). As we get older and we have the battle of the Yezter Tov vs. Yetzer Hara that we struggle with daily, we start taking away and putting in more ice cream.
When we G-d forbid fall to the hands of the Yetzer Hara (Evil Inclination) and do a Chet (sin), we take out a huge amount of ice cream from our refrigerators. When we do Chessed or listen to our Yetzer HaTov (Good Desire) and put on Tefillin, we pack the fridge with ice cream. This ice cream is eternal, so when one has their Nefesh yelling for Tshuva (the innate feeling), it has some type of fuel to run on, but not for long.
We need to understand that our Nefesh is our Spiritual Engine. When someone does a sin, G-d forbid, they cut off part of their spiritual engine! A small engine for a jetski will never run fast enough to fit for a car! Our potential is like a Jumbo JetPlane but because of our Chatayim (sins), our Nefesh holds just the amount of power for a simple electric scooter engine.
So how does this help us understand the INNATE feeling of wanting to do Tshuva and get close to Hashem? The more we have distanced away from Hashem the more fuel this little spiritual engine (our Nefesh) needs in order to power our spiritual–selves up again.
After one gets to a point where G-d forbid Hashem is not part of his/her life, then to get back one needs to do a lot more. This is when Aseret Yemei Tshuva comes in. These days are GIFTS that we need to take advantage of! Hashem is telling us: I will pay for these missing parts in your engine EVEN IF YOU DESTROYED IT IN THE PAST. After all, I created you and I know you are made from dust!

Its time to wake up and realize Hashem is telling all of us: NOW IS YOUR CHANCE! SHOW ME WHAT YOU GOT!

Yom Kippur is in 4 days.
 4 Nights left for Selichot.
