CLD #364

For the Refua Shlema of Mordechai Tzvi ben Sara & Binyamin ben Blanka.
When we look in the mirror, what do we see? A Symmetric figure (sometimes), with almost identical figures when cut down the center. What can we learn from this? There is something to learn on a simple analysis level and a slightly deeper level.
The simple level is the fact that Chodesh Elul is all about seeing things in a parallel way. “Ani LeDodi VeDodi Li” is a phrase that is commonly spoken about during the month of Elul (this month). This phrase means just like I am to Hashem, Hashem is to me. But what does that mean? (Explained to me by a Bachur from Yeshivat Shuva Yisrael NYC) There are many times throughout the year where Hashem literally sends to us hundreds of wake-up-calls for the process to ‘Lachzor B’Tshuva’ but the person ignores them or simply does not have the strength to do it. There are also periods of times where it’s the opposite, where the Jew wants to get closer to Hashem and do Tshuva but he/she suddenly have an endless amount of difficult obstacles to overcome to reach this goal of Tshuva.
Elul is different.
Elul is a time where both the person and Hashem do their part to do Full Tshuva with love and mercy. The person can EASILY, in a matter of seconds actually, do Tshuva and be truthfully sorry for all the things he/she has doen that are against Hashem, and at the same time Hashem makes it EASY for a person to come back onto the path of the Torah HaKdosha. This is one insight on the simple view of symmetry in nature.
Another deeper level is the idea of Marriage and Shidduchim. When someone looks into Apple’s visual effects and sees the effect where everything becomes 100% symmetrical, he/she can laugh and enjoy it, but they do not realize they are looking at the secret of finding a Shidduch. What is a Zivug? It is the woman/man who is the OTHER HALF of your Neshama. It is literally a symmetrical copy of your Neshama, however phsycially you might be completely different than her/him.
We simply need to look around us and we see G-d everywhere.
Yom Kippur is in 37 days.
Rosh HaShanah is in 27 days.
Selichot HAS ALREADY BEGUN. Have you said it yet?

Shabbat Shalom!
