L’yilui Nishamt Avraham ben Ester & Israel Ben Rivka.
From Yalkut Yosef:
1. Women are not obligated from the Mitzvah of Kriyat Shma (saying Shma in the morning at its directed time) because there is a specific time when one can begin saying Shma, and mitzvot with a specific time are not obligated for women to do. However, women should be strict upon themselves to say Kriyat Shma on time (for the time go to myzmanim.com) in order to accept Hashem’s Kingship upon themselves. However women cannot say Hashem’s name in the Brachot before Kriyat Shma.
2. A Chatan (groom) is still obligated to say Kriyat Shma, even during the first night being a Husband, and he should not think he is not obligated because he is in the middle of Mitzvat Nisu’in (wedding). Also the case with the morning after in regards to waking up on time for Tefillin and Tefillah B’H.
