SHABAT SHALOM.
For the Refua Shlema of Moshe ben Mazal.
If we were all machines it would be ridiculous and just plain dumb to set aside an entire 25 hours of our week for rest, food, a time to get closer with your family, and a time to get closer with Hashem! But we are not robots or machines or cars.
We are all made of flesh, blood and bones and whether you like it or not, Hashem knows what is best for us. Shabat Kodesh is a time of relaxation, a time of Cheshbon Nefesh (meditation) to focus on the past week of our lives and how we can focus our energies to serve Hashem (because serving Hashem means serving yousself).
Why should one serve Hashem? The question really is why should one NOT serve Hashem?!?!? Unless there is something literally wrong with the person who believes that there is "no G-d," you cannot run away from believing that G-d is in control of this world.
If you just look closell, not even closely, if you just think a tiny bit of this world. Of the Chochma (wisdom) behind every living thing, every ocean, every continent, every tiny piece of grass, every monkey, or every single cell in your body: you just reach the conclusion that there is something creating this world and making the flowers blossom in your backyard. Because of this realization, we are forced to receive the tradition from Har Sinai and follow the rules of this world.
Shabat is 25 hours of testifying that Hashem is THE Ruler, King, Father, Controller, Pilot, Contractor, etc. of this world. When we in fact relax and live the Shabat Kodesh, we are living this world to the fullest!
