KOL HASHONEH HALACHOT BECHOL YOM MUVTACH LO SHEH'HOO BEN HA'OLAM HABA

L'yilui Nishmat Avraham ben Ester & Israel ben Rivka.
From Yalkut Yosef Mo'adim:
1. One is not allowed to create new fire on Yom Tov, and therefore one does not create fire from rocks or wood, because one can only create fire from another fire. Therefore one cannot light up matches from the matchbox itself, one can only light up the match from a pre-existing fire.

2. As we stated, one can light up matches from a pre-existing fire. One can also even light up matches from solid pieces of hot coal, but not from ashes that are warm that are not lit. One may light up a match from an oil lamp also, even though it seems like there is no actual fire that is burning.

SHAVUA TOV!
