1. One should wake up early Friday morning to prepare for Shabat Kodesh. One should buy all that is needed for Shabat on erev Shabat (aka Friday), unless one knows he will not be able to get it on Friday. It is recommended to prepare at least one thing for Shabat even if one has maids and servants or his wife or children can do it instead.
2. There is an understanding that with the tears one has from crying when doing Tshuva Hashem uses to erase the sins of that person. The same goes for the sweat one sweats on Friday (aka Erev Shabat) to prepare for Shabat Kodesh. Its good to say when preparing for Shabat to say "Lichvod Shabat."
