Putting aside the main reason why one learns the Torah HaKdosha (which is Leshem Shamayim=Because G-d told us to: "VeHigita Bo Yomam VaLayla), one gains so much through the limud haKadosh. When one learns Torah he learns the knowledge he/she cannot receive through textbooks. Example: Through the parshiyot in Dvarim one can learn how to be a leader through Moshe Rabeinu's leadership skills and decisions he took. One learns Mussar through the mesiroot nefesh the holy Tanaim and Amoraim went through in their generations. One sees (the minimum) the preciseness and meaning behind every single letter in every pasuk of the Torah. One understands the love Hashem has for every single person (Jew, Non-Jew alike) in the world. One sees the connection of nature with Humans. One sees the extreme wisdom behind the holy Rabanim of the Talmud through their discussions on specific trees, days of the year, spiritual strengths of specific holidays, when to expect good luck, when the opposite, etc. And most of all, through learning Torah one sees a tiny drop of Hashem's wisdom and gets closer to a purifying state of mind being elevated second after second to a whole other planet.
