1. When one has a simcha (Shabat Chatan or Shabat Bar Mitzvah), the shul should push off the tradition of candy throwing into the men's section because it distarcts people from the prayer or kriyat haTorah <which is the main purpose one comes to shul>.
2. The Gabai is not allowed to give an aliyah to a person who is married to a Goya (even one who regularly 'sees' a Goya). A Cohen is also not allowed to come up for an aliyah if he is married to a Goya. The reason is because by doing this, the Gabai is in fact stating that marrying out is a positive thing.
