When learning Gemara, or any other book that includes limud Torah, one doesn't only learn the material itself, but also mussar, chinuch, and general knowledge about living life. In the Gemara HaKdosha (which is also known as Torah SheBe AlPe, the Oral Torah that was given to Moshe from Mt. Sinai and passed down till today) explains the difference between an Eved Ivri and an Eved Kna'ani. What is an Eved Ivri in the first place? An Eved Ivri is a Jewish person who would like to sell himself as a worker for reasons such as: 1.he has no money so he sells himself for 6 years, or 2.has to pay back someone and does not have the money, etc. An Eved Kna'ani is the same, but is simply a Goy and is sold for 49 years. An unbelievable difference between an Eved Kna'ani and an Eved Ivri is their duties as avadim, or workers. The Eved Kna'ani's body is completely under the ownership of his master, but the Eved Ivri's body is absolutely not under the ownership of his master, because his body belongs to Hashem solely. This is beautiful stuff. From the Gemara's explanation of the differences between the two avadim, we see our major purpose in this world. Just like Hashem tells us a Jewish worker's body is under the complete ownership of our Father in shamayim, so too we need to make our bodies completely holy because it is not our body! Our body is under the control of Hashem.
Time to purify ourselves, time to learn some Torah :D.
Bracha VeHatzlacha in whatever you do.
Remember, Hashem is with you every step of the way, all the time & in every place.
