1. In order to pray in a tzibbur, we need 10 people. The draga of a minyan is higher than praying be'yachid (alone) because more neshamot together create a stronger boost for the tefillot of the people to go up to shamayim faster and smoother. The more people, the better.
2. There are 3 mitzvot that are "yehareg ve'al ya'avor" (Meaning Be killed instead of doing the avera). Shfichut Damim (Murder), Avoda Zara (bowing down to idol), and Gilui Arayot (immorality). If someone threatens your life unless you kill someone else, bow down to an idol, or sleep with a woman; the person needs to choose taking his own life.
