SHAVUA TOV!
B’H The Parasha we read this morning is beautiful! Our Parasha shows us how we not only need to pray, but we also need to do something; we need to act. In Kriyat Yam Suf we see there are 2 things one needs to do in our to see a yeshua, some type of redemption. Before the sea split, Am Yisrael 1. Yelled to Hashem and 2. Jumped into the Ocean till the water was “ad nafesh,” right before drowning.
We learn that not only do we need to pray to Hashem and yell in this tough world, but also act; do mesiroot nefesh! When we walk by a non-kosher dunkin donuts and we are craving a hot chocolate so bad, the mesiroot nefesh is shutting down that craving and walking down a couple more minutes to the kosher dunkin donuts! This tiny act (depends on who you ask) is HUGE in the “eyes” of shamayim! We need to push ourselves to do what Hashem wants for us, to complete our world.
Each of us has our own Kriyat Yam Suf. We need to cry and beg Hashem to help us and send us rachamim to push us to WANT to do what’s right. In our generation we do not have the zchut to wake up in the morning and say “I’m dying to open up a sefer kodesh and learn some commentary on torah.” Because of this reason, we pray to Hashem to help us WANT to be holy, WANT to get close to the truth of this world> a.k.a. the way of our parents and greandparents.
B’H May we have the zchut to get closer to Rabbanim and the links we have to Hashem (sifrei kodesh).
