CLD #130

For once in my life I used my own philosophy/advice. I was cutting up bananas and strawberries and asked my self: How is this helping me spiritually? What can I learn from this experience? It says in The Igeret HaRamban that through everything you read you should find something that you can apply to your life to make it more spiritual.
I thought of a little chiddush about the difference between strawberries and bananas.
A strawberry is Beautiful. Its vibrant brick-red-color attracts the eye and fills your senses with natural beauty. On the other hand, a banana is a little low on the attraction side. It has a moldy yellow with black spots like some parasite is attacking the poor thing, and it has a peel that just engulfs it.
Also, the strawberry's beauty is shown to the world, its open, its free. HOWEVER when you want to eat it, you barely get 50% out of the produce. You have to cut off the top because its filled with bugs. The strawberry is Olam Haze, its the hot girl at the club wearing barely anything, its the delicious non kosher pizza you are dying to take a bite out of, it is the produce of the Yetzer Hara. It seems so right, so good, but you're barely getting any pleasure from it. A banana is closed, its shy, its peel is in the way of the enjoyment, it seems so tough to finally eat it.
The banana is Olam Haba, it is the extra effort you take to get out of bed 20 minutes earlier to go to minyan, it is the 7 seconds you take out of your day to say Modeh Ani or a single Bracha. Olam Haba is just a single peel away that seems so hard to peel off, and after the peel you get 100% guaranteed satisfaction.
With the smallest effort
we can easily get there because its all in our head.
Its all up to you.
