"Shma Yisrael Hashem Elokeinu Hashem Echad."
This is considered as the most important and basic foundation of all of Yahadut, all of our beautiful religion, from its scientific reasoning to parenting to morals to the basic understanding that there is one G-d.
Rav Levy shlit'a, my rabbi of Congregation Bet Yisrael told us that the word Sham, which is made up of 3 letters, has a background acronym for "Ayin=Ol, Mem=Malchut, Shin=Shamayim." The concept of Ol Malchut Shamayim means that Hashem is our king, Hashem is our leader and guide, and Hashem is 100% the one running this world. Rav Levy explained to us beautifully that during Shma we hand our lives over to G-d and tell him: "My life is in your hands."
We need to take this concept to the next level by thinking about it. It is not enough to say "That was beautiful" and move on with your day. We need to slowly slowly get to a point where we (if we have the zchut) believe that Hashem is in charge of EVERYTHING!
