It is easy to go against the Torah using today’s modern thinking and the way our society functions to just throw a fit against the Holy Torah. What people do not consider is the depth and divinity behind Hashem’s Holy words of Torah. This is a guideline that came from Shamayim. This is the connector between Hashem and us as a nation, as a head of a family, as a boss, manager, employee, individual and friend.

The Torah is what unites Am Yisrael and it must be learned before saying one single word, G-d forbid, against it. The topic of Sotah (the married woman who must drink something in the Bet HaMikdash after suspected for being alone with another man) is a sensitive topic due to the fact that it only applies to a woman. The founder of Torahvort.com writes a beautiful Dvar Torah on Parashat Naso, the Parasha we will be hearing in Shul during Shabbat Kodesh. He explains that this shows “how Hashem values peace between husband and wife.”

There is definitely an answer to the topic of Sotah and why it only applies to a woman, hwoever; the real smarts and genius comes from not needing that answer to move on. The fact that we have this problem of raising a question AGAINST THE TORAH!?!?! Is already a problem! How can we, flesh and blood, go against the Holy Torah, which was giving by The Creator of the World?!

You don’t think Hashem knows what He is doing when He brings up Sotah in the Torah which is for eternity?! Even though Sotah only happens during the Bet HaMikdash, it still is something that is in the Torah, which is forever. Every syllable, Torah reading sign, letter and everything to do with the Torah’s parchment (animal hide) has to do with everything that goes on in this world, from birds in the Amazon and African Safari to the computer chip in John Doe’s desk in the US Embassy in China.

B’H we should all get to a level of Emunah that Hashem is not only The Creator, but also our Father who has eternal love for us and just wants us to go in His way to build a life of real meaning.

Translated from Rav Ovadya’s Halacha Yomit Email:

1. The Hachamim (Sages) decreed that one cannot use a musical instrument on Shabbat because then he might come to fix it, creating Hillul Shabbat (the desecration of Shabbat). Therefore, one cannot clap their hands hand on hand and cannot tap or bang on the table during Shabbat. However, one can do these actions in Shinui (meaning in a different way, such as hand on back of hand or banging on the table using the back of one’s hand).

2. As said on top, Hachamim decreed that one cannot use a musical instrument on Shabbat Kodesh. Therefore, one cannot use a whistle. However, one can whistle using their lips.

For the Ilui Neshama of Avraham ben Ester ZT’L.

Mario is a game that is internationally famous. From past CLDs, we already know the obvious: we can learn from the physical world about the spiritual world. Mario is another example of that simple concept. How?

Mario is a basic game where the character goes through adventures and at the end of every round he beats the boss to bring home the captured princess. Mario has a specific objective.

We can say the same thing about the Neshama, the Jewish soul that is the body’s engine for life and is the center and reason for living. As a Jewish Nation, we are in the world to fix the Het (sin) of Adam HaRishon. Therefore, throughout our lives we go through major Nisyonot (spiritual tests) to overcome specific challenges and be placed on higher levels of kedusha (purity).

We can see that in Mario, just like Mario goes through an X amount of levels to beat the boss every round and get to the main objective, so too the Jew who has 10 major tests (which we learn from Avraham Avinu who also went through 10 major tests). Each round in Mario has a boss, which explains the intense Yezter Hara behind every major nisayon one goes through in life.

B’H we should realize that this world is simply to make Hashem happy by fixing Adam HaRishon’s major mistake. Life is filled with serious decisions, but in the end of the day its just a game against Yetzer Hara.

Translated from Yalkut Yosef Kitzur Shulchan Aruch:

1. One should wake up early Friday morning to prepare for Shabbat and buy the proper groceries/items. It is best to buy them on Erev Shabbat (Friday) and not before to have the preparation as close as possible to Shabbat unless he/she must buy it before because they cannot buy the product on Friday. If one has someone else that can do they grocery/product shopping instead they should be stringent and do it themselves to give respect to Shabbat, and it is a bigger Mitzvah when done in his/her own hands than a messenger.

2. With the sweat one perspires during the preparation for Shabbat, Hashem uses the drops to erase sins like tears. Therefore, one should not be lazy in the preparation of Shabbat. One should also say “Lichvod Shabbat Kodesh” when doing this preparation throughout Friday.
