All donations are going to our current CLD Fundraising Project: Collecting money for a bride in need WHO IS GETTING MARRIED IN LESS THAN 24 HOURS!
Translated from Ve’En
Lamo Michshol:
1. Just like an individual is forbidden to hit his/her
friend, so too it is forbidden to even lift up their arm to act as if they are
about to hit their friend! Our Sages, may their memory be blessed, wrote that
each individual who raises their hand to hit their friend is called a Rasha (wicked). There are those who
state that even one who threatens their friend by saying “I’ll show you,” “Watch
out from me,” or “Don’t mess with me,” even without lifting their arm to act as
if they will hit them is called a Rasha.
2. A husband is forbidden to hit his wife and an individual who
hurts his wife has a tougher punishment to face than a person who hits his/her
friend, and this behavior is not a way that an individual that is from the
nation of Israel acts. Even though there are severe cases where some of our
holy Rabbis hundreds of years ago said that a husband can hit his wife to educate
her, in any case a husband needs to be extremely cautious not to hit his wife
and just turn to speak with her in a calm fashion. Another piece of advice is
to turn to a Khacham (a wise Rabbi)
to show the couple the correct way of dealing with the situation and therefore
a result of love, peace and tranquility will rest in their home.
