1. In the days of Mordechai and Esther the entire Jewish
nation gathered for 78 hours on the 13th of Adar and fasted. In
order to save their lives they needed great mercy from Hashem and after fasting
and praying they received mercy and Haman was hung. Esther and Mordechai killed
75,000 of Amalek in their time and not a single Jew died. For this reason we
fast tomorrow to remember Hashem who saved us and the horrible state we were
in.
2. If Ta’anit Esther falls on Shabbat (like this year) then
we push up the fast to the Thursday beforehand (tomorrow), which is the 11th
of Adar.
