From Yalkut Yosef:
1. It is written in the Torah “…and a garment which has a mixture of Sha’atnez shall not come upon you” and it is also written “You shall not wear a mixture of wool and linen together. The prohibition of Kila’im is specifically held with a mixture of wool and linen. The Torah made the wool of sheep and ram prohibited to be mixed with linen, but the wool of camels, rabbits, cotton, goat feathers and other wools are allowed to be mixed with linen.
2. The prohibition of Kila’im is held in all places,
meaning in Israel and outside of Israel, in the time of the formation of the
Bet HaMikdash and in the time of its destruction. In the prohibition of wearing
Sha’atnez, men and women are equal and both need to refrain from mixing wool
and linen. If one is in doubt whether their clothing has a mix unacceptable according
to Halacha, they should send it to a place that checks for Sha’atnez.
