KOL HASHONEH HALACHOT BECHOL YOM MUVTACH LO SHEH'HOO BEN HA'OLAM HABA

Translated from Yalkut Yosef Online (Yalkut.Info):

1. All types of oils and wicks are Kosher for the lighting of Hannukah candles, even if the fire that is lit does not lit as beautifully with certain oils and wicks compared to other oils and wicks. Using olive oil is a Mitzvah Min HaMuvhar, a Mitzvah that is “special” because the light that is produced from the oil is quite clear. It is also a Mitzvah Min HaMuvhar to use cotton as the wick for each Hannukah candle. If one cannot get hold of oil they can use wax candles as well.

2. Whoever set up their Menorah to hold wax candles for the Hannukah lighting and sees that they have oil should place the candles off the Menorah and light the Hannukah candles using oil because the miracle in the Bet HaMikdash occurred with oil. Even if this oil that the individual found was not olive oil they should still light Hannukah candles using oil rather than using wax candles.

Hannukah Sameah!
