For the Ilui Neshama of Jonathan Roth Z’L:
I don’t know how to express myself, I can only say Baruch
Dayan HaEmet.
At the same time I can’t say that.
I can only breathe. But you can’t.
You’re incapable. But you’re not disabled.
You’re just not here. But your body is.
In a few months it won’t be. But your name will.
Your laughter in our thought processing systems.
Your smile and figure when we close our eyes.
Your tombstone when we open them.
Your parents' memory of you.
Death is the most silent eraser.
But your neshama
is eternal.
May Hashem give koah
(strength) to your family and all the people who love you.
I had the privilege to be roommates with Jonathan Roth in
Yeshivat Netiv Aryeh from Elul 5769 until Adar 5770 in the Old City of
Jerusalem. It is unbelievable to hear that he is no longer with us. Baruch
Dayan HaEmet.
