KOL HASHONEH HALACHOT BECHOL YOM MUVTACH LO SHE’HOO BEN HA’OLAM HABA

For the Ilui Neshama of Avraham ben Ester ZT’L, Yissachar ben Yona ZT’L and Haviva bat Yocheved Z’L.
From Yalkut Yosef:

1. It is forbidden to stay busy with one’s needs before praying Shaharit (morning prayer). Therefore, it is forbidden to drive from city to city before praying Tefillat Shaharit (morning prayer). However, certain trips such as driving to Yerushalayim to pray at the Kotel is not considered taking care of one’s needs because it is for Tefillah.

2. It is permitted to shower before the time to pray Shaharit arrived (before dawn, 5:44am), however after dawn one should not shower because it is for one’s own needs and does not fall under a need for Tefillah. However, if the shower leads the individual to pray with Kavana (proper intention) and with a clean body (if the person produced a lot of sweat during the night), the shower can be considered a need for Tefillah and is permitted. One should pay attention not to shower with soap, rather only shower only to take away the sweat and dirt.

SHAVUA TOV!
